Cassie begins her senior year

We have been praying this blessing over our sweet daughter for years as she left for school, and we will continue to pray this over her during her final year at high school: “The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn His face towards you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
The best is yet to come!

The Exterior is Finished

IMG_4648This is the grand unveiling. It probably goes without saying but we are so very blessed to have this gift. Thank you, all of you, who have given so that we have a home here on the YWAM property that we can live in and minister from. Here in the picture you can see the exterior is finished. The interior is drywalledย and the heating is on, but otherwise unfinished. We’re hoping its only another month to finish inside, but if it turns into two that will be ok too.

A Few Details

Front door is over on the left side, eventually there will be a really nice pathway where the dirt road is right now. This path will wind through the middle of the YWAM property to the front gate.

The two corner windows just right of the front door is kitchen and the three big windows is a little nook, these 3 windows face the river, which is not too close but pretty much unobstructed. Directly above is the master bedroom with a great view of the river. The two windows on the left on the second floor are the kids bedrooms. Cassie, as a growing young woman will get her own room while the boys can share.

The last thing that you need to know is this great place has a spare bedroom downstairs and a small second bathroom. There’s room and we’d love to have you come visit, just tell us how long!

Turkey Pics (Segment 1)

Ephesus: Temple of ArtemisI’ve finally got a few minutes to get some of the pictures from our Turkey Ancient New Testament Sites Tour up.

This first segment covers our travels toย Patara,ย Myra,ย Smyrna (Izmir),ย Ephesus and Pergamum.

I chose this picture, not because it is the best of the bunch. It’s actually just an ordinary picture, go see some better ones here or click on pics. I chose this picture for what it represents.

Where you see just a couple blocks of stone and a large pillar once stood one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world! We are talking one of the most prestigious and famous temples known from the time of Alexander the Great (323 BC) through most of the Roman Empire (268 AD).

Here stood the famed Temple of Artemisย (if you click there you can read about it on Wikipedia).

The simple lesson I learned? That no great thing, no accomplishment survives forever. Things come and things go but God remains from eternity to eternity. And through Jesus alone are we invited to spend eternity with him. We don’t worship buildings or riches or strength or fame or ideas. They too will fail and fall. Only the Lord is eternal and he alone is worthy of our worship.
