Donetsk is Ukraine’s gate to the East. It is the industrial capital and now the city is also vying for the title of Ukraine’s football capital. The cities two major attractions, Shakhtar Donetsk football club and the Donbas Arena Stadium are both owned by Rinat Akhmetov, the richest Ukrainian and steel magnate. Shakhtar was the first Ukrainian club to win the UEFA cup.
