Ben Heads To Ukraine

Ben is leaving tomorrow for Ukraine so I thought it would be a good idea to send a quick overview of our summer so far and specifically ask you to pray for him as he goes. Here is a really quick run down with some photos (who wants to spend summer looking at a screen!) so that you can quickly get caught up and then pray.

We started summer in Canada with some Timmie’s donuts! A little family airport tradition. We came home because we are here so our kids can work this summer and it is always a joy to connect with family and friends.

Cassie has been serving as a waitress and staying with friends of ours near Kenora. She loves the experience, the fun of living with this family (who are so kind and generous to her) and the tips!

We had a chance to share at our home church and another one in Niverville. It was a blessing to connect with these church families!

We’ve had such a great time here, and have been enjoying the grandparents. It has also been 1 year since Ben’s mom has passed away, so we had a meaningful time with his family to reflect together.

It is always very special for Angela and Liza to spend time together – best friends since age 4 and 5, it is a huge joy for Angela to be with her!

And if you can believe it, Ben went golfing with Kai and his dad and he got this close to a hole-in-one!

There is so much more we could share about – serving at Kilcona’s kids camp, a few little camping trips, a few breakfasts/lunches/dinners with friends (but sadly not enough time for all we wanted!), some definite teaching preparation for Angela (lots of teaching going on in September as soon as we land!) etc. but then this newsletter would be too long and I promised short.

So let’s end this little update with two requests. Cassie and Jay will continue to work until the 23rd of August. Kai will be going to camp between now and then (as well as cutting a friend’s lawn weekly), so Angela will be staying in Canada with the kids until August 25.

Ben will be leaving August 4 to head back to Budapest, and then he will jump in our car and drive to Kyiv where he will be for a couple weeks working on finances and administration for YWAM Kyiv. He will also join our staff for the annual staff retreat, and then he will travel back to Budapest just in time for the week before school teacher preparation time.

Please pray for him as he travels: for safety and joy and the gift of bringing love to our YWAM Kyiv staff. Pray also for Angela and the kids as they finish well in Winnipeg.
